Wildfire Readiness & Zone 0 Resources

Practical improvements start with understanding your property. Explore current Zone 0 guidance, roofline options and local resources, then talk with our team about the work your home needs.

Understand Zone 0

Zone 0 is the first five feet around a structure, where reducing combustible material helps address ember exposure. Keep the area and roofline clear of accumulated debris. Use current state guidance and your local fire authority to understand requirements for your property.

Guidance reviewed October 7, 2026. The Board's current page says final regulatory review is continuing. Use its updates and your local fire authority to check the current guidance for your property.

Where our team can help

Gutters & gutter protection

CAL FIRE recommends clean gutters, noncombustible covers and metal gutter replacements. Our team can clean, seal and reinforce an existing gutter system, and review appropriate protection or replacement options as part of a broader home-hardening plan.

Soffit & fascia

Enclosing suitable eaves with noncombustible materials can address roofline vulnerabilities. We review existing wood, drainage and ventilation before recommending aluminum soffit and fascia work. Vented or perforated soffit panels provide ventilation holes where airflow is needed. Where ember protection is needed, we review the documented product and assembly options for your property.

Specialty steel fabrication

For projects that need custom steel fabrication, we can coordinate with PRIME WELDING LLC in Anderson when needed. Their listed services include gates, fencing, railings and welding repairs. Our team reviews the project and coordinates the appropriate scope.

Questions for your insurer

California's Safer from Wildfires recognizes measures such as enclosed eaves and ember-resistant vents. Before choosing upgrades, ask your insurer which improvements qualify, what photos or invoices are needed and how any discount applies to your policy. Eligibility and savings vary.

Wildfire readiness questions

Will roofline upgrades make my home fireproof?

No upgrade makes a home fireproof; properly selected work can address particular vulnerabilities as part of a broader plan.

Are ordinary ventilation holes ember resistant?

Ventilation and ember resistance are separate product characteristics; the actual panel or vent assembly must have appropriate documented performance.

How do I find requirements for my property?

Start with current state resources and confirm local requirements with your fire authority or building department.
